Mushroom Foraging Tips – November 2023
Well, spring has come and gone and we’re solidly into summer now. The high-pressure cell has settled further south and with it, we’re getting battered by the south easter in Cape Town. Unfortunately not the best weather for foraging mushrooms with reduced humidity, dryness, and heat.
November would normally would be the time to look out for good flushes of Porcini (Boletus edulis) and Summer Cep (Boletus reticulatus). If we get some summer rain over the next month, coupled with a few hot and windless days then definitely head out to your favourite forest foraging spots to look for these delicious mushrooms.
Happy hunting!
